The Pack-Man

July 24, 2011

Another fan-tab-u-lous experience!  I got to go hiking with a real, live pit bull pack!!!!!

18 other pitties I believe.

There I was, little ole’ me…struttin’ my stuff.  We walked up, up, up a steep hill and then down again.  Foster Mom said there were some great views.  We passed deer and a quail and many peeps.

Foster Dad Joe says I did great.  No pulling on the leash.  Waited patiently when we took breaks and walked calmly with a slack lead.

But most importantly, I made new doggie and people friends.  Everyone got a long fine.

Now we know I can socialize with the best of them.

(Thank you Chelsea for teaching me how to hike. xoxo)

Here’s a short video of the pack:

Have a great week y’all.

Becoming a Genius

May 14, 2011

It takes a lot of time being a genius, you have to sit around so much, doing nothing.  -Gertrude Stein

My foster peeps say I am pretty smart.  I know many commands – sit, down, wait, leave it – I’m housetrained, crate-trained, leash-trained…but a GENIUS…

Now that is a lofty goal. But I’m up for it.

So today I got up early to work on becoming a genius.  Here I am doing nothing in the flowers:

And here I am doing nothing while watching Foster Mom de-weed the backyard (again).

And then of course I round out my day of genius-building by doing nothing and watching Foster Mom fold the warm clothes strewn on top of me.

I hope I’m doing this right!  I wouldn’t want to be working this hard sitting around for nothing….xoxo Stevie “Mensa-pup”

So you know it’s been raining like crazy here.  My walks have be super-fun because I like the rain.  But my fosters kicked it up a notch today and took me to visit Karen’s and Mike’s doggie haven.

They rescue and re-home lots of pups and are nice enough to let me tag along to their adoption events so I can find a forever home too.

And today I got to meet lots of other dogs, run and play in the rain and the mud.  Off leash – FREEDOM!!

I never let my blindness hold me back.

Woo hoo!

I. Am. Dog!

You can see in the video below, the other dogs and I got along well.  I was snapped at a couple of times when we all went inside, but I kept on my best behavior.  I understand a bit about sorting out who is the top dog.  And as a guest here, that’s not me. 🙂

I’m just happy they seemed to like me and maybe I can come back and play again.

UNLESS of course, I get a great home before that!!

Backyard Squeaker

March 10, 2011

Holy Moley, do I have

One. Cool. Toy.

My friend Karen (who adopts out lots of homeless pets like me) gave me the best toy ever.  It makes crazy sounds and it bounces, so I can hear where it is and play my own version of “fetch”.

Took it in the back yard of my foster family and had a blast.  You might not guess that I’m blind from watching this video.

Well…I DO run into a few things…but I can figure out where my awesome toy is pretty quickly.  And the steps are no problem for a guy like me.

Heck.  With a little water break here and there, I could do this all day!

A Lazy Summer (?) Afternoon

February 18, 2011

After a long Winter’s nap, I woke up to Voila!  Warm sunshine!  Is this really January?  I. Love. It.

You can see in the video how green everything is.  And I am helping water the ground with the garden hose.  I hope they don’t ask me to pull weeds.

But I have to tell you, I had the strangest dream.  I was at a Pet Food Express with Sponsor Joe and some little frisky doggie comes up to me.  Next thing you know, we’re in a cage and THEN they let another dog in.  WOW.  I’m glad that was just a dream!

Somehow I was able to piece together and re-create some of the dream below.  (I want to think everyone who participated in bringing this short re-enactment together.)

The New Best Day of My Life

February 1, 2011

Holidays are way over!  Time to get back in shape.  My new BEST FRIEND Chelsea came over to take me for a trail run.  That’s right!  Stevie Wonderpup is learning how to run in the forest.  I know how to walk beside you on a leash, but running, that is new and exciting!!!!!

Here I am getting ready for the green flag.

And I’m not sure what happened here, but I’m alert and ready to go!

Well I couldn’t see, but I could feel the fresh air and I know we were up high.  Hope you enjoy the view.

If anyone makes fun of my running form, I’m going to find you and cover your face with sloppy kisses.  You’ve been warned.

So we ran up steep hills, down steep hills, over flat fields.  I could hear so many little critters and lovely sounds!!  WOW!  WOW!!!   Have you ever run blindfolded through the forest?  You should try.  Exhilarating!  Umm…this is exhilarating too!

Yes, that is me – born to be wild.  I told you this was the best day of my life.

And finally, this is Chelsea.  She is a professional dog walker/college student/pet food express employee extrordinaire, but like I said, she is my new BESTEST friend.

Chelsea is perfect and I love her very much.

So, that concludes my awesome day.  Thank you Chelsea for being so nice to me.  And thank you reader for caring.  TTFN, Stevie Wonderpup
